In September of 2006 my wife and i flew into Fairbanks for our first time, as our daughter was getting married. Our daughter put together the wedding plans and all we did prior to arriving at Fairbanks was mail deposit checks! We really did not know what to expect upon our arrival. Once we arrived and checked into Skiland Lodge we were overwhelmed. The interior of the lodge was rustic and homey; the rooms were spotless and comfortable. You would never know that it was below freezing outside. The kitchen was Well equipped and very clean. Much to our delight was the food. We had an excellent rehearsal dinner at the lodge which included prime rib and all the trimmings as well as homemade bread and desserts. The breakfast and the lunch prior to the wedding dinner were also well prepaid. The wedding dinner exceeded all our expectations which included an excellent assortment of appetizers, salads, vegetables, rolls, halibut, chicken, etc. The brunch following the wedding was better than most five star hotels that i have stayed at; it included eggs benedicts, homemade biscuits and rolls, waffles with Assortment of toppings, different quiches, sausages, bacon. It was a wonderful end to a great weekend. We found the staff to be very pleasant and easy to work with We could not have asked for a better experience from Brenda and her staff.
